Early Life & Family
Madelyn Cline was born on December 21, 1997, in Goose Creek (near Charleston), South Carolina, U.S. to Mark and Pam Cline. Her father is a water system engineer, and her mother is a real-estate agent. Madelyn is also known by her nickname, Maddie.
She began modeling at the tender age of 10. She often spent her summers in New York, where she worked on print ads and TV commercials for brands such as T-mobile, Next, and Sunny D. She was also featured on the cover of American Girl magazine
She had joined the Coastal Carolina University. However, she dropped out to become an actor at 19. She then moved to Los Angeles, California, against her parents’ wishes. Her parents still live in South Carolina but support her career.

Career
Madelyn Cline was already a budding model by the time she decided to move to Los Angeles to start an acting career.
She was cast as Matilda in the 2009 short film Milites Christi. She appeared as Maya Smith in the 2011 thriller film 23rd Psalm: Redemption and as Ashlyn in the 2012 short Children of Wax. She was then seen as Tanya in the 2014 short Bridge the Gap, as Willow in the 2016 comedy film Savannah Sunrise, and as Grace Alexander in the 2016 TV movie The Jury.
The 2017 series The Originals featured her as Jessica. In 2017, she appeared in the minor role of Tina in the second season of the Netflix science-fiction series Stranger Things.
In 2016–2017, she appeared as Taylor Watts in the series Vice Principals. She also appeared as Luna in the short Wild Flowers and as Jenny in the series Maid to Order, both in 2017.
She then appeared in the small role of Chloe in the 2018 film Boy Erased. In 2019, she was seen as Olivia in The Giant.
However, the role that made her a household name was that of Sarah Cameron in the Netflix original series Outer Banks. The teen adventure series premiered on April 15, 2020.
She believes the role of Sarah demanded a lot of “stamina” from her end, since it has been the longest role she has ever played.
She had initially auditioned for another character, Kiara, and had not liked the role much. She then read the script of Sarah’s part and loved the story. She instantly wished to turn the character into something quirky and relatable.
Madelyn Cline identified with the character when it showed a transition and stood up for herself. She felt women are always criticized for stating their opinions. She also likes the fact that Sarah is an eco-conscious character. Madelyn also identifies with Sarah’s insecurities.

She appeared as Daisy (voice) in the 2020 series Day by Day. She will also be seen in the upcoming series What Breaks the Ice (as Emily) and Once Upon a Time in Staten Island (as Sophia Larocca).
She is managed by Paradigm Talent Agency in California, United States.
Relationships
Madelyn Cline was rumored to be dating her Outer Banks co-star Chase Stokes for a long time. In, June 2020, they made their relationship official by posting a picture of themselves on a beach picnic, with the caption "cats outta the bag."
Though nobody knows how long they have been together, they have revealed that they have been quarantining together during the COVID-19 pandemic since late March.
Earlier, she had also been romantically linked with actor Drew Starkey.
Madelyn as a Person
Madelyn Cline loves photography, road trips, drawing, hiking and wakeboarding.
She was particularly happy when she bagged the role of Sarah Cameron, as the series was supposed to be filmed near her childhood home.
She has revealed that some of the cast members of Outer Banks, such as Drew Starkey (who plays Rafe Cameron), are quarantining with her. Drew and Madelyn live in the same building and often cook up dishes suggested by Madelyn’s mother. Madelyn loves gorging on pot roast.
Madelyn Cline had a nice time with a few Outer Banks cast members, such as Jonathan Daviss and Rudy Pankow, when she took them to some nice spots in Charleston, South Carolina, near their shooting venue. They all went to Marion Square, where they played soccer, and then to King Street.
Though her wardrobe on Outer Banks is quite casual, Madelyn is quite a fashion-conscious lady. She once said that her fantasy wardrobe would consist of some pieces from the Salvatore/Ferragamo autumn/winter 2020 collection, including some classy leather pieces. She loves retro-themed clothing and pant suits, which give an androgynous touch to her look. She is also extremely fond of Dior.
Madelyn Cline loves coloring her hair blonde. She is quite fond of dogs. She cares about the environment and wants to raise consciousness for the rising sea levels and climate change.

On her Instagram account, madelyncline, she calls herself a “Buffalo and ranch enthusiast.” She has gained more than 5.7 million followers on the platform. Her Tomfoolery series on Instagram showcased the behind-the-scenes footage of the interactions of the cast of Outer Banks.
